Welcome! I’m Cat, the owner and creator behind Winged Shadows.
I started making crystal jewelry in 2018 after leaving a corporate job that left me feeling unfulfilled and uninspired. Ever since I can remember, I’ve made jewelry as a hobby — from playing with beads as a young child, to making all the friendship bracelets in high school, to basic wire wrapping in college. So I probably shouldn’t have been surprised when jewelry making helped me rediscover my creative spark when I needed it most. This craft has been an important part of my life ever since.
Today, Winged Shadows jewelry also includes solid brass and sterling silver pieces, each lovingly handmade with the same passion and care that first drove me to start creating. I focus on whimsigoth jewelry designs inspired by the ‘90s witchy aesthetic (think: Charmed, Practical Magic, The Craft…). And, because I’m an artist with ADHD and way too many ideas, you’ll also see some different things in the shop from time to time, like crystal beaded bookmarks, polymer clay earrings, and whimsigoth home decor. No matter what, every piece is original, one of a kind, and made to last.
I believe that jewelry is so much more than an accessory. It has the power to make us feel things. In my everyday life, I choose my jewelry based on my needs for the day. I have different treasured pieces that help me feel confident, secure, grounded, calm, and loved.
